Proceed if you don't mind some bare-bones spoilers here (though nothing too revealing). This ‘final dossier’ is an analysis by Agent Tamara Preston regarding certain person-of-interest: Annie Blackburn, Audrey Horne, Leo Johnson Windom Earle, Diane, 'Judy', Dr. Jakoby, certain other characters, and naturally Agent Cooper. She spills the beans on certain life events- and inconsistencies in their written case histories in last year’s Secret History of Twin Peaks. There are even some attempts at explaining certain supernatural entities. Since there will probably be no more Twin Peaks TV episodes or movies, this may be the best we’ll get as a parting gift from co-creator Mark Frost. The stories are fascinating, and there are few visuals (as this is the Kindle edition), but it’s engrossing and I sat and read it in one long reading. It’s almost like reading a plot synopsis for a missing Twin Peaks season. Definitely worth the read, and writer Mark Frost knows these characters inside and out. Engrossing, but still retains some of the mystery…

It's hard to tell if this volume is a response to some of the critical reception to the Secret History or if this was planned as one last cash grab from the get-go. The Final Dossier reads primarily as an information dump of material I think most people expected to get in The Secret History, specifically what happened to some of our favorite characters in the years between the end of the original series and "The Return". As immersive and cleverly constructed as the first book was, I and I'd bet at least a few other readers often wondered why we were getting such a detailed examination of very minor characters (or people and places we'd never heard of) with a notable dearth of information regarding anyone we cared about. That's not the case here. The Final Dossier is a much more straightforward series of short narratives that bring us up to speed on the comings and goings (and some pre-show history) of most of the original principle cast. It's mostly interesting stuff for fans (although a rather lengthy section on "The Double R" unconvincingly bends over backwards to explain away a notable continuity error in The Secret History).Another difference between this volume and the last is the length. As other reviewers have noted, once you take out the blank pages and photos, there's less than 100 pages of material here. Not a problem in and of itself, but the $21.99 price tag seems a bit steep (granted it's cheaper at the moment on Amazon) and adds to the feeling that this was a last minute cash grab to make fans pay again for what they wanted from The Secret History to begin with. All that aside though, it's an interesting and informative read for invested fans of the series and is a nice bit of closure as another season of the show seems unlikely.

I understand one of the negative reviews on here that complains about a lack of "new information." But if you're like me and you love TP but also have trouble keeping up with details while you watch, having all that EXISTING information laid out in front of you in an orderly fashion--through the voice and style of FBI Agent Tammy Preston--is still helpful and brings fresh perspective to what we've witnessed, both in the second season of the original series (the good parts) and The Return.I also think some of the reviewers are understating the impact of some of the newer, or at least more explicit, nuggets Frost drops into The Final Dossier. Obviously I can't elaborate without giving too much away. That said, there is nothing especially novel or exceptional about Frost's writing itself. This is intentional, I think, because this is supposed to read like and FBI dossier and not an esoteric spiritual guide; and it is frankly to be expected as Frost is the "soap opera" plainspeak merchant that has always made David Lynch's dream quest-like visions of Twin Peaks more accessible to us mere mortals. Also, I pre-ordered this at a very good sale price and I would strongly recommend buying below MSRP value-wise. This is a good companion piece, but not a great novel in and of itself.

Ya, I did not like “ the missing pieces” mostly because I was lead to believe it was more in line with this book... “ final dossier” is really well done. Gives us all the info we’ve wanted.... and it was All that I wanted in the first book. There are plenty of reveals that I wanted to see in the new series that never materialized. It’s allot of fun to read. Being a fan since day 1 back in 1990, I couldn’t put it down and knocked it out in a few hours. Loved this.My favorite section is done with Alberts autopsy notes. This would have been a classic scene in TP.Thank you, Mr Frost... but please, gives us another season of TP with the real Cooper, I miss him.

This book is a serious disappointment and feels "phoned in." While it purports to answer questions, it's written at the level of a "Where are they now?" People magazine-type news feature, it concentrates heavily on a lot of old Twin Peaks characters I don't care that much about (like Annie), and it doesn't feel like it jibes much with the actual program. I sort of wish I hadn't read it.
