Let me say first that I appreciate anyone who takes the time to write a book. So thanks to the author for that.Another review called this book "meh" and I think that sums it up pretty well. I had hopes for the MC at first as he displayed some talents he had earned through hard work on order to make up for his lack of talents in other areas. That is honestly the one really positive part of the book that comes to mind.The rest of the story is pretty shallow as are the characters. I felt no real connection to the characters and honestly most of the time I didn't feel like the characters had formed much of a connection with each other. The dialogue was often pretty uninteresting and at times downright confusing.I don't really regret buying this. It killed some time while I wait for books in other series to come out, but this will definitely be going in the "never read again" pile. I will not be purchasing subsequent books in this series.
I can’t find any negatives in this book the idea is fresh the story, characters and the world building are interesting. What more can you ask for...well how about more of the same, please

Loved the book and can’t wait nor the next
Slow, boring and nothing more than a high school wet dream. MC is boring, weak, uninteresting, and filled with more angst than a high schooler. There is ZERO reason the Djinn would be interested in this waste of oxygen other than the author's weak imagination. The author makes terrible attempts at some kind of cloak and dagger world of secrecy and some nefarious plot but all the characters are flat and lifeless. There's more tension and gripping back story in a Scooby Doo episode than this entire book. There are soooo many holes in the plot and story that Swiss cheese would be jealous. Totally done with this author 2 series tries 2 EPIC failures. Save your time and skip this one.
Characterizations are ok and the story is interesting enough but the writing needs a good edit. Several points where statements contradict one another, points where things that the MC already knows get repeated, and points where the scene description and layout is just not possible or repetitive.
