When Dr. Licks released this book, it was practically the first of its kind. There were many blues based books but this was one of the first to discuss R&B guitarist. And he nailed it! The examples aren't that difficult so I would suggest this book for intermediate-beginners and beyond. Each mini lessons are broken down into 4 bar grooves, which by the way make up most of the grooves for the songs played back then (e.g. a 4 bars groove in layered parts). All examples are played on the cassettes and the examples are listed in TAB and music form. The examples focus only on the background rhythm players, not the r&b guitar solo which is blues based anyway. However if you want to learn both this r&b rhythm style and solo licks, then check out the list below for current books. THIS BOOK ISN'T WORTH 400.00 WHICH IS THE ASKING PRICE OF THE 3RD PARTY SELLERS; if they come down to 25.00 perhaps, then I would recommend buying this book.
