This book takes a logical look at arguments that have been made against the coming forth, translation,publication and content of the Book Of Mormon. It is presented in a fun, non-threatening way coming from a place of faith and belief in the Book of Mormon, translator Joseph Smith and teachings/beliefs found in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I feel this book is best read by the neutral, intellectually honest/curious or people who have a particle of faith in the church and it's teachings. My children love the pictures and reading the examples presented. My 10 year old especially.
My family loved this new and updated edition that improves on the earlier editions. Its fun to read for young adults, and gives them a chance to weigh the evidence for the Book of Mormon against the best theological and archaeological criticisms that have been tried by critics over the years. As an adult reader, the fact that this book is based on the actual experience of law student Jack West defending the book of Mormon in a mock trial as a Stanford law school student is fascinating to me. The historical sources and archaeological sources have been checked and updated to reflect the most current information available. The art work is excellent. This book is written for LDS readers, and anti-Mormon haters are not going to like how the writer takes a logical, evidenced based approach to their arguments against the Book of Mormon. I already had a testimony of the Book of Mormon, but this book presents compelling arguments that informed and enlightened thinkers have developed and used in defending the Book against over 150 years of critical attack.
This book has so many errors in it, it would take decades to answer them all. The authors used weak and poorly equipped protagonist to over come arguments that my children could have done a better job defending. Mormonism is not Christian and as such it is a false religion based on lies...
I read this years ago and it was so helpful in gaining a general understanding of some of the arguments critics make about the Book of Mormon while giving thoughtful responses in a fun and creative format that children and youth in particular will enjoy. The artwork is attractive and engaging.
